Bliss
July 25, 2010 – 1:18 am
Literally that is what I am in……"Hexagon Bliss". I am using Bliss by Camille Roskelley to hand sew my first ever hexagons. I had tried it before with a plastic template and it just didn’t seem to work. After seeing some videos and tutorials the other day about paper piecing I decided to give it another try. I started on Thursday evening and now have 84 hexagons done. I figure with football and cheer-leading starting in the next week every night I am sure to get at least 100 done a week. So at that rate in 6months I should have enough for a 40×60 quilt. I have to say I do find it relaxing to do a bit of hand-sewing.
Blue Springs
July 18, 2010 – 12:47 am
Just wanted to post about having fun at Blue Springs and so glad I purchased this camera http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830122222 to capture water moments like this. Using Fuji z33 Finepix waterproof camera. Used the video mode, more then the photo mode. Not fast at snapping images, but to capture those moments that would have been lost due to the water conditions, this is great!
Charity
July 13, 2010 – 3:56 am
I have a wonderful client named Lori, who I have had the pleasure of photographing her daughter and family for years. So when she asked me, “if I would be willing to donate a quilt to raise money for Tyler Kleine”, how could anyone say no! I had the perfect fabric “Make Life” and I have put it together over the last few days. You can read about Tyler’s story here in this Star Banner post http://www.ocala.com/article/20100625/ARTICLES/100629779?p=1&tc=pg&tc=ar and you can also view more information on the Benefit to raise money for him here http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=131829690171200 and have a chance to bid on my quilt. I can not imagine at 8years old how terrified he must be, but I hope he knows that many people are keeping him in their thoughts and prayers.

For you MOM!
July 1, 2010 – 7:43 pm
This is for you mom! So Tyler’s Grammie & Grampie have been out of town a little over a month. Tyler has been growing his normally 1/4inch long hair out for about 2 months. He is thinking he is going to cut it before they get back so Grammie asked to take some photos. So as he emerged from the pool, I snapped a few “ha…ir” images, which turned into Tyler, Goofy posing! Great to capture all the silly poses he does to us all the time. July 1, 2010
Family Time

4days old…….
June 25, 2010 – 8:48 pm
I have been a bad blogger lately, but I promised mom that I would share some for her. This little princess is just 4days old and once she feel asleep, she was an easy, joy to photograph. I love that my job lets me hold these precious little ones and capture these beginning images, as they change so quickly.
Sweetest Teen
June 17, 2010 – 1:16 pm
Alright, most of the time you don’t use the word sweet and teen in the same sentence. But this girl was one of the sweetest girls with her younger brother. Most siblings don’t want to touch, come close to each other, give me faces about how they have to sit…etc. But this teen really genuinely loves her little brother and doesn’t hide it. It was such a refreshing thing to see!
Missing in life!
June 16, 2010 – 4:31 pm
I know I have not blogged in a while, been busy with life. So here are a few recaps.
Tyler received 4 more awards. Straight A’s for the year, the presidential award, the award for 4.0 or higher with high FCAT scores and the PE award for the school. Here he is flexing on stage after receiving his PE award.
Tyler and his friend after the awards.
My baby graduated from 5th grade the evening of the last day of school!
Happenings in our backyard.
Had some cute Great Crested Flycatcher babies.
Babies below at 3 days old.
Babies at 2weeks
Then a snake who (is evil) is just doing what comes naturally, slithered into the bird box and ate my babies. I know it is the circle of life, but defenslessbabies just make me sad, they were almost ready to fly. At least I got to scare it out of the box with a smoke bomb firecracker! Here he is, all 4 feet of his yellow rat snake self.
I do have some work photos to post as well, but I think I will do that on another day.
Sweet Strawberry!
May 25, 2010 – 4:14 pm
So after our fun with Blueberry picking, I thought why have we not done this before. Then I thought what about Strawberries, we should pick some of those. After checking, Strawberry picking season ended here in Florida in April, so no Strawberry picking for us. But then my sweet husband went searching store to store and surprised me by showing up last week with a hanging Strawberry Plant. It has several flowers on it starting to open, but after looking careful I found this little cutie. Only about the size of a dime right now, I hope I can actually grow these and not kill them. I don’t have the best green thumb, but I enjoy watching things grow. Hopefully I can capture the journey!
Blogger’s Quilt Festival…Spring 2010
May 21, 2010 – 1:01 pm
So we are all posting our projects as a virtual Blogger’s Quilt Festival. This is my second time participating and it is so much fun to check out all the other blogs and Quilts. Go ahead, get a snack, grab a drink and give a click http://www.amyscreativeside.com/2010/05/bloggers-quilt-festival-spring-2010.html
So there is not a big back story on this quilt. I had seen this fabric “California Dreamin’ on the coming soon list on Fat Quarter Shop and I had to wait…and wait….and wait for it to get listed. I scooped it as soon as it came out, I sewed the top together and there it sat. Like many of my quilts, I love sewing the tops together and then I let them sit. So after reading the festival was coming up I knew I had to finish a top I had sitting and I choose this one. I just love the bright, fun, colors and it reminds me of Summer which is almost here! The Quilt is 55×68, California Dreamin’ Fabric with white on the front and then two different fabrics sewn together for the back. Thanks so much for looking and Happy Sewing!

A Few Pages of Life

Warm my heart.
May 12, 2010 – 12:02 pm
It warms my heart to know that people appreciate the hard work that goes into making a quilt. I do it because I enjoy it and make them for friends and family. Occasionally I may sell one here and there and I always do some for charities. I made this one for the Relay for Life Auction in Orlando that my sister in law is involved with. She received and email forwarded to her about the woman who won my quilt and it just made me smile. I am so happy I could help in some way to comfort her.
(I just met the woman at lunchtime today who won the beautiful quilt that your sister-in-law made. She was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy. She told me both of her parents died of cancer, and she has the perfect spot in her home for the lovely quilt. She said she can’t wait for her sisters to come over and see it. She also said that this means more to her than you’ll ever know.)
After Reading that, big smile and happy heart!
The words on the quilt in the white boxes say….celebrate, remember, fight back.
